Bars, Restaurants, and Cafés Noise Assessment

Bars, Restaurants, and Cafés Noise Assessment

Do you require a noise assessment for your proposed new Café, Restaurant or Bar?

It is common for a noise assessment to be required to demonstrate both the noise of patrons, music and new mechanical plant such as kitchen extracts and air conditioning units do not impact on the nearest noise sensitive receptors (residential dwellings).

At Peninsular Acoustics we regularly carry out noise assessments based on agreed criteria with the local planning authority. A survey is carried out with a follow up report to support your planning application or respond to a set planning condition.

Factories & Workshops

Do you require a noise assessment for your workplace?

At Peninsular Acoustics we regularly carry out noise assessments in accordance with “Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005”.

Employees job roles and noise sources in the workplace are identified, and noise exposures are calculated and related to regulations.

Where required, mitigation measures of noise sources can be recommended, and hearing protection can be specified. A survey is carried out with a follow up detailed report.

Sound Insulation Testing

Sound Insulation Testing

Has your Building Inspector requested a sound insulation test for your new build or converted development?

At Peninsular Acoustics we are an accredited member of the Association of Noise Consultants Pre-completion Sound Test Scheme. We regularly carry out Sound Insulation Tests to demonstrate compliance with Building Regulations Document E 2003.

Both airborne and impact sound tests are carried out depending on your development type. Once the testing has been completed, a report and certificate will be provided for your development, suitable for submission to your Building Control Inspector.

Padel & Sport Noise Assessment

Padel & Sport Noise Assessment

Do you require a noise assessment for new padel courts or sports facilities?

As padel becomes more common in the UK, many sports clubs are adding new courts—often in residential areas. Padel produces a distinctive noise profile compared to tennis, with sharp sounds from ball strikes, wall rebounds, and player activity that can raise concerns for nearby residents.

At Peninsular Acoustics, we regularly carry out Noise Assessments to demonstrate that new facilities will not adversely impact noise-sensitive receptors such as homes. Our assessments include on-site noise monitoring, computerised noise modelling, and clear, data-driven reports to support planning applications. Where needed, we also provide practical mitigation advice such as acoustic barriers, court positioning, or schedule adjustments.

A survey is carried out with a follow-up report to help secure planning approval or respond to planning conditions.

Air Source Heat Pump Noise Assessment

Air Source Heat Pump and Air Conditioning Noise Assessment

Do you require a noise assessment for your proposed Air Source Heat Pumps or air conditioning units?

At Peninsular Acoustics, we regularly carry out noise assessments in accordance with the Microgeneration Installation Standard MSC020 for permitted development, as well as BS4142 Noise Assessments. These are commonly requested by planning authorities to demonstrate that new air source heat pumps or air conditioning systems will not impact the nearest noise-sensitive receptors (such as residential dwellings).

A survey is carried out with a follow-up report to support your planning application or respond to a set planning condition.

Residential Noise Assessment

Residential Noise Assessment

Do you require a noise assessment for your new housing or flat development? New or converted houses and flats are commonly being built near noise sources such as roads, railways and flight paths for example.

At Peninsular Acoustics we regularly carry out noise assessments to demonstrate compliance with BS8233:2014 and WHO internal noise level criteria.

A survey is carried out with a follow up report to support your planning application or respond to a set planning condition.

A Pleasure To Work With

We engaged with Peninsular Acoustics to ensure compliance was met for our new wine bar. We had strict council conditions to meet & Peninsular guided us through from start to finish.

They explained everything step by step & were a pleasure to work with.

FAQs

A noise assessment for planning applications is:

  • A study that is carried out to assess the potential impact of noise from a new proposed development on nearby residents and businesses.
  • Alternatively, a study that is carried out to access the noise impact from the surrounding area on a new noise sensitive development.

The assessment will typically consider the following factors:

  • The noise sensitivity of the new development.
  • The type and level of noise that will be generated by the development.
  • The location of the development.
  • The sensitivity of the surrounding area to noise.
  • The presence of any existing noise sources in the area.

A noise assessment is required for planning applications in order to ensure that the introduction of a noise sensitive development or a noise generating development fits in with the current noise climate of the area.

A noise assessment for planning applications will typically include the following:

  • A description of the proposed development.
  • Measurement of the existing noise levels in the area.
  • An assessment of the potential impact of noise on the development form existing sources, or from the development on nearby residents and businesses.
  • Mitigation measures to reduce the impact of noise from the development or impacting on the development.

A noise assessment for planning applications should be carried out by a suitably qualified acoustic consultant. Peninsular Acoustics Limited is a member of the Association of Noise Consultants confirming this is achieved, along with individuals employees having corporate membership of the Institute of Acoustics.

Using a qualified acoustic consultant to carry out a noise assessment for planning applications has a number of benefits, including:

  • They have the expertise and experience to carry out a comprehensive and accurate assessment.
  • They can advise on the best way to mitigate noise impacting on a development, or noise impacting from the development to other nearby residents & businesses.
  • They can help to ensure that your planning application is approved.
